Ali and Nino
My stage adaptation of the world famous novel by Kurban Said, funded by the NY State Council of the Arts, highlights the romance between Ali Khan Shirvanshir, an independent, young Muslim patriot from Azerbaijan, and Nino Kapinini, a bright, witty Christian girl from Georgia. Their quest for enlightment, their breaking down barriers related to nationality, religion, gender and age, deepens their relationship. “Ali and Nino” uses music, mime, puppetry, dance, and mixed media effects to heighten its prophetic and relevant impact. |
